The Purpose Of A Daily Quiet Time

1. To give devotion to God.

Ps. 29:2
Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

(Hezekiah) was successful, because everything he did . . . he did in a spirit of complete loyalty and devotion to his God.

God deserves our devotion (Rev. 4:11).
God desires our devotion (John 4:23).

2. To get direction from God.

Ps. 25:4-5
Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me . . .

Two things to do in a quiet time:

a. Consider your way

Prov. 4:26
Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be establish.

Prov. 3:6
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

b. Commit your day

Ps. 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

3. To gain delight in God.

Ps. 37:4
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Ps. 16:11
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence in fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

The fact is, the better I get to know Christ, the more I love Him.

The objective of your quiet time is not to study about Christ, but to actually spend time with Him. That is the difference between a quiet time and attending Bible study:

a. Quiet time is spending time with God.
b. Bible study is learning more about God.

4. To grow daily like God.

What happens if you do not have regular quiet time?

1. You will not fellowship with God.

2. You will find it impossible to relate to God.

3. You will not have any source of strength.

4. You will be ineffective in your service for God.

5. You will not be a healthy, growing Christian.

I came across something interesting while someone gave me an application on sexual personality test on Facebook. And reading through the questions listed in the test, I came across, Sex Club. Being curioused, I sms-ed Dear asking what it is. Somehow, she has no idea and I googled it.

Here's the findings from Wikipedia :

Sex clubs are clubs where people can have sexual intercourse with one another in public areas. The term can also be used more generally to refer to establishments such as a gay bathhouse where sexual activity often takes place in private rooms. Larger establishments may also include the facilities of an ordinary nightclub such as a bar and a dance floor.

Sex clubs differ from brothels in that, while sex club customers pay a fee to enter the club, they have sex with other customers rather than with staff of the establishment. Some sex clubs cater exclusively to male/female couples, others to 'gang bangs' where several male customers have sex with a female customer, others to gay men or lesbians. Some clubs do not make any restrictions on the sexuality of their clients, and other clubs hold different kinds of events for different sexualities on different nights.

Typical sex clubs also differ from gay bathhouses in that have few to no private rooms, encouraging sexual activity to take place in the open. Interesting isn't it? There's Sex Club in Canada and in the States as well as the District of Columbia. There's even Gay's Sex Club which is in private rooms. I was wondering if Singapore has it. But I'm not sure if there is.

Wouldn't it be weird to see people making out in a club? You're making out, so does others, not to mention, all are able to see what you're doing. They don't serve alcoholic drinks which is interesting as mostly are all busy making out. There's no time for a drink unless they're thirsty.

Sex Club helps to promote safe sex as well. That's something interesting as well. That means, we'll see the declining of STD. Maybe Singapore can try promoting safe sex as well in their own ways isn't it? In this way, lesser STD rates for the year. Private rooms has been barred in certain areas, in order to monitor that the people in the club are having safe sex. Which is a good thing, but still weird.

Imagine you're making out with your partner, and someone was monitoring if you're having safe sex. I mean, it's totally weird for someone to look at what you're busy at with your partner. It's totally weird. I can't imagine how these people could continue making out with the presence of others as well as someone monitoring you.

A quiet time is a daily time I set aside to be alone with God to get to know Him through the Bible and prayer.

The Importance of A Daily Quiet Time

Your time alone with God should be the top priority in your schedule for five reasons :

1. We were created to have fellowship with God.

Gen. 1:27
So God created man in His own image...

Rev. 3:20
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

2. Jesus died to make the relationship with God possible.

When Adam sinned, that relationship was broken. God send His Son in order to restore that relationship again.

1 Cor. 1:9 (TLB)
God... has invited you into this wonderful friendship with his Son, Christ our Lord.

3. Personal time alone with God was Jesus' source of strength.

Luke 5:16
So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

4. Every person who has been effective in service for God developed this habit.

5. You cannot be healthy, growing Christian without spending time with God.

But He answered and said, "... Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

Ah Long Pte Ltd is a light-hearted black comedy about the triad world and the money-lending business. The movie takes on a humorous and sarcastic treatment on the underworld. Saw this Subaru parking in the school's campus. Quite nice, it is the design that attracts me. Initially, I thought it would be a 4 seater kind of car, but somehow, it's only 2 seater. Nice design, with just 2 seater. I'm not sure about the functions and is it comfortable to drive in. Anyway, I don't have any license so I won't be able to know the feeling of driving such a cute car.

Other than this, my first time seeing a Mini Cooper in the school's campus. Wonder which rich kid owns it. Mini Cooper, ain't cheap. It's blue in color, sad to say it isn't the red color Mini Cooper that I always adore.

This early morning, an accident happened outside the school's campus, or rather just right at the gate I assume. I'm not sure what happened, all I heard was a loud bang and a loud scream. Thus, Micky assume someone has been knocked down by a vehicle that is turning into the school's entrance. It's just my thinking, I'm not really sure about the actual happening. So don't make any rumors about it.

The girls left immediately after handing in assignment together with me today, just to avoid Loke who is coming to collect debts. As I've predicted, we're paying for the fire wire as well. So let's see the total amount of it.

It's 3:42am

It's early in the morning, 3:42am and I think I'm not going to have any sleep for the day. I'm rushing through my treatment for my TV Production, which I'm given this very early morning at around 2am to 3am. OK, it's between that time. And I'm so ranting my displeasure at such hour. Mum is chasing me off to bed every now and than, I don't think I'm going to have any sleep. Or most probably, when I'm way too tired; I would just bang my head right on my study desk and off to LaLa Land.

Having a big headache on how to write a treatment. Somehow, the treatment that I wrote with much brain juice being squeezed out didn't seem much appreciated. My eye lid is getting heavier, and I'm so trying to get myself to stay awake at such early hour. I need sleep, I can't go without sleep if not my mood/temper won't be good. Most probably, I'll scream, I'll shout, I'll argue or maybe give you a punch if my fist just fly straight at your face. I mean seriously, MICKY CAN'T THINK WHEN SHE IS THIS TIRED! What a life I'm having now.

The sky is dark and my stomach is grumbling due to my hunger; and I refused to grab a bite. I'm telling myself that I have to, no matter what, finish this treatment. I could hear snores! The samples Dear has given me is not helping me at all. I'm too, or way too tired to read it nor absorb the information(s) given. But I appreciate what Dear has done for me. Thanks for the lullaby almost every night, though I didn't ask for it tonight.

Seriously, I don't like last minute work, as it won't be a good work. Editing of video has yet to be done. Proposal has yet to be done. Script, I think it's half done. Treatment, I'm still doing it while taking a break to write this entry. Most probably, my entry is all about my ranting of displeasure. And I am certain that my eye-bag will get much more obvious than before all thanks to this very last minute work.

6 members in a group, 2 squeezing out brain juices and tries to get everything done, while 4 is shaking legs away. Reason is very very very simple. This little girl, by the surname, Loke, didn't assign jobs to all. She made the decisions and bought all the unnecessary stuffs without informing us. Next, when the 4 China girls asked if there's anything they could do/help, Loke replied saying they aren't much of a help as they don't know how to do it. Great, she didn't give them the chance to, how would she knows? By what my evil sister, Lei, told me that I should have told Loke my displeasure.

But God wants me to refrain from anger. An angry man hurts a innocent soul. Well, I doubt Loke is innocent. Yup, ever since I accept Jesus Christ, I could see the change in me. My temper rarely shows out the displeasure I had within me; unless necessary I assume.

If I ever over-stop when I'm taking train in the morning, I'm sure my face will be as black as my laptop. Maybe my love for Pandas should stop if I don't want to be one of them. Maybe my love for Polar Bear should increase more, so I won't have a very obvious eye-bag. =.=
