Jiro Wang’s Leg Injury Worsen
Fahrenheit Postponed Concert to March 28, 2009
[2008.11.05]
Due to the leg injury of Fahrenheit member Jiro Wang, the Fahrenheit Fantasy Concert in Malaysia that was originally scheduled for November 15 is forced to be postponed until March 28 of next year! Because the Bukit Jalil National Sports Arena is already booked for March 28, the venue for the Fahrenheit concert is also forced to change from outdoors to the Putra Jaya Indoor Stadium.
With only 10 more days before the Fahrenheit Fantasy Concert in Malaysia, to announce at the last minute that it is postponed until March 28 next year, it is inevitable that there would be many speculations, including the suspicion of poor ticket sales for the concert.
Chao Kai-ren, the CEO of Big Events who is the organizer of the concert, refuted this theory. He indicated that when FRH came to Malaysia to promote the concert back on Oct 18th, the outdoor autograph session they held that day caused huge traffic gridlock and was extremely successful. With such enthusiastic responses from the fans, it would basically be impossible to say that the ticket sales were poor. However, he did admit that the “passion” of Malay fans tended to peak at the last minute, so ticket sales often gets better as it gets closer to the concert.
From Outdoors to Putra Jaya Indoor Stadium
The people attended the press conference on Wednesday (November 5th) included representatives from Big Events and HIM International. The main reason for the postponement of the concert was Jiro Wang accidentally injured his kneecap during rehearsal for the concerts in Hong Kong. Last month, when he joined the other three members to come to Malaysia, he was already forced to meet the media in a wheelchair. Afterwards, he did not have enough time to rest. Last Sunday (November 2nd), he even performed with injury in a concert tour in ShenZhen.
Chao indicated: [Without sufficient time to rest, Jiro’s kneecap injury is showing signs of worsening. Currently he cannot withstand standing for a long time and the amount of activities required during a concert performance. It is strongly recommended by the doctor that he must have one month’s rest so that his injury can be completely healed. Otherwise, it would seriously affect the health condition of the artist as well as future performing career.]
When asked if the postponement of the concert would create any monetary loss, Chao insisted that there was no loss because the concert was only postponed and not cancelled. Also, with regards to the venue being moved from outdoors to indoors, he indicated that nothing has changed, even the number of seats available is exactly the same as the outdoor venue with the target being 10,000 people. However, because the seating arrangements between the venues are different, so how seats are marked may be slightly changed.
So Far No Postponement Planned for Singapore
Also, during this period of Jiro’s recuperation, other than the Malaysia concert was affected, the Shanghai concert (which was scheduled a week after the Malaysia date) was also forced to be postponed. As for the Singapore concert scheduled for Dec 19th, so far the situation is still uncertain and will depend on Jiro’s leg injury at that time before any decision will be made.
The ticket prices for the Fahrenheit concert in Malaysia remained unchanged. Big Events urged all fans to keep their tickets safely for the March 28th concert. Anyone who wish to return the tickets for a refund should return the tickets to the Axcess office in Petaling Jaya within one month starting today (November 6th to December 6th, 2008). For more information, call the Axcess Hotline at 03-77115000.
